Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is the discovery of a piano in her attic and being awed by the sounds it would create. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to take up music. Not for a job or as just a pastime, but for the sake of growing. To do this she started writing her own new compositions. Her sources include renowned artists Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her attraction to Bjork's style. Her mother had told her that her songs would not only help her gain fame, but also make everyone else see their value in the world and realize the possibilities for their music, she made the decision to start performing in public. When she was six she began to learn the piano and at nine, started writing songs. It was not until she turned 14 when she shared her story with her parents. There was no way she could have imagined to be Aurora. According to her, she just is a fan of writing songs. Music is her preferred method of feeling anything.
